Peer Review Process
At ALAM Journal Maritime Studies (AJMS), we are dedicated to the timely evaluation and publication of fully accepted articles. To ensure high-quality publications, every submission undergoes a thorough review process that typically takes around 12 weeks. We publish only those articles that have been assessed and approved by expert researchers in the relevant field. Our review process follows a double-blind peer-review system. For a comprehensive overview of the manuscript submission process—from author submission to editorial acceptance— please refer to the diagram below.
In summary, the steps involved in the publication process are as follows:
- Manuscript Submission (by author)
- Manuscript Check and Selection (by the editor-in-chief and editors): Editors have the authority to accept, reject, or request a review. Each manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin before further processing.
- Manuscript Reviewing Process (by reviewers)
- Notification of Manuscript Status (by editor to author): Authors are informed of acceptance, required revisions, or rejection based on reviewer comments.
- Paper Revision (by author)
- Revision Submission (by author): This follows a similar flow as the initial submission process.
- Notification of Acceptance (by editor): If reviewers are satisfied with the revisions.
- Galley Proof and Publishing Process
Steps 1 through 5 represent one round of the peer-review process, and our review may involve two rounds if needed.
The journal editor or editorial board evaluates the feedback from peer reviewers and decides, which can include the following outcomes:
- Accept without changes: The paper will be published as is.
- Accept with minor revisions: The paper will be published pending small corrections by the author.
- Accept after major revisions: The paper will be published if the authors address the suggested changes.
- Revise and resubmit: The paper may be reconsidered after the authors make significant revisions.
- Reject: The paper will not be published or reconsidered, even if major revisions are made.
Please note that there is no communication between authors and editors regarding rejection decisions. Authors will receive an explanation for any rejection.
